An early twentieth century 9ct. gold Amethyst box. Birmingham 1910.

This delightful little box was produced in Birmingham in 1910 by the makers Levi and Salaman. The company Levi and Salaman was founded in 1870 by Phineas Harris Levi and Joseph Wolff Salaman. Levi died in 1910 when the company became Levi and Salaman Limited. Specialists in a wide variety of silver work, gold examples of their highly skilled production are rare. This lovely little example is formed from a single piece of amethyst mounted in 9ct gold and set with a cabouchon garnet to the lift.

   This charming little high quality example of the work of Levi and Salaman is 2.7 cm in diameter and stands 2.1 cm high. (Measurements approximate). It is in fine condition, showing light wear appropriate to its age and substance. It has no damage and no restoration.
