Early twentieth century Secessionist silver plate desk seal.

The Vienna Secession was founded in 1897 and in 1903, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser founded the Wiener Werkstatte with the goal of reforming the applied arts. This fine silver plated desk seal is a perfect example of the Wiener Werkstatte principle and is an exceptionally rare survivor of the period. The matrix of the seal bears the initials "W.E.C." though it would be a simple matter to apply a new engraved matrix to the base making this a functional object for contemporary use.

This early twentieth century Secessionist silver plate desk seal stands 9.5cm high and is 4cm at its widest point. (Measurements approximate). It is in excellent condition, showing wear appropriate to its age and use. It has no damage and no restoration.
