Mid nineteenth century mother of pearl thimble box.

   This charming little box dates from around 1860. It is constructed from slabs of mother of pearl attached to a wooden carcass. The inner edges are ivory and it is lined with the original red silk. there is a pillar inside upon which to place the thimble. 

  This mid nineteenth century mother of pearl thimble box stands 5cm tall and is 3cm at its widest point. (Measurements approximate). It shows wear appropriate to its age, including a tiny crack to the bottom corner of one of the side panels of pearl which remains solid and may well have been caused during the making of the box. It has no damage (aside from that mentioned) and no restoration.
